Corn rolls downhill overseas. What will it do to your ‘hood?

Investments in corn planting in the US due to misguided ethanol fever have not only started to roll downhill, but have done exactly what was predicted by many outside the stupor of the oil industry.

Food shortages of non-corn products. (Washington Post article)

But it’s ok, this is the third world. They can eat bugs or something, you think.

Think again. What happens in your neighborhood when the grocery stores run out of food?

What happens when your last clip is empty?

Have a nice day.

Finger pointing, deadlines, racism and lobbying

What a country and government we have made for ourselves.
No one is wrong. Everyone is a plaintiff.

We give the abused an opportunity for relief through the courts, rather than give them the loans they needed in the first place.

Deadlines pass. Fingers point. Blame is assigned. Lawsuits begin. And begin again.

The US Government fiddles while Rome burns.  By the time it’s settled, crops burn up in the fields and no one remembers the original discussion. By then, it’s just about someone being found guilty, of something, anything.

And then we get more food from China. Pass the lead.

A fine example of government for the people, by the people, and of the people.

As long as “the people” are ignorant bureaucrats from Washington. I cant recall the last time I saw such offensive behavior inflicted on a hard-working family.

Farm Bill 2007: The farmin’ is great in downtown Chicago and NYC.

Did you know that downtown Chicago and New York City are great places to be a dirt farmer and raise food to feed your fellow Americans?

http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/bates/07072 reads like a brief who’s who of urban cities getting farm subsidy money, but the real dirt is at the liberal but detailed EWG site (mulchblog.com) where farm bill data is sifted with other public databases to figure out who is getting what.

Like Bates, I don’t agree with everything the EWG has to say, but the data speaks for itself.

http://www.mulchblog.com/2007/07/speaker_pelosis_payment_limit.php discusses the wonderful work that Speaker Pelosi is doing to limit 3100 or so “millionaires” from getting their hands on Farm Bill subsidies while the other 1.6 million keep getting theirs.

More analysis on the bushel basket of “losers” at http://www.mulchblog.com/2007/07/reform_subsidy_limit_would_cra.php

Think I need to order myself a gold-lined public trough…
